After the much deserved rest last night, I overslept and had my pals from PPA- Pinoy Photographers of Alberta who I met at last for the very first time after connecting with them through social media wake me up through the hotel room phone. I don’t know why I missed my alarm even though I had it in full blast volume. They also had hard time looking for me in the system at the Front Desk because they only knew my nickname. They have to show my name on Facebook which helped the staff to trace me as to what room I am staying.
That morning I met Joseph, Nikko and his wife and we headed our way to Devon which is situated 26 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Edmonton. Probably around 10-20 minutes depending on traffic.I introduced myself to them and we had fun conversation along the way to.
We then reached Devon, which is Joseph’s house and there I met Chiqui, Ian, Rey, Deo, Rene, Bjorn who are all amazing people with the same passion in photography. We had the great pleasure of being mentored by Calgary’s well established couple photographer/entrepreneur Chiqui & Ian of LCR Photography. I was amazed and learned a lot from that session even if it was just for a short time.
Here are the links of LCR Photography.
Here are some of my shots during that session.

As much as I would love to stay there for a long time, I can’t because I need to meet up with my high school, college classmate and nursing duty mate Raychelle. Thanks to Sir Rene for driving me up to West Edmonton Mall where I met Raychelle and her mom and we had dinner together at the Red Piano. I haven’t seen Raychelle after college or shall I say after we took the board exam so that was like 3 years and she just moved here in Canada or in Edmonton last year too. I have been planning to go to Edmonton ever since but I always change plans. But now I finally met her. She toured me around West Edmonton Mall which is one of the biggest mall in the world.
After that we braved the weather and went to Old Strathcona, Whyte Avenue. The place is sorrounded by old structural buildings with bars, restaurants and shops, it was indeed a lively place where everyone can enjoy and have fun.
Everytime I travel I always love taking skyline photos of the city/place. I did tried but it was too risky and cold outside in the middle of Saskatchewan Drive that overlooks Greater Edmonton Area. I had some shots but it wasn’t that lovely. So I think that will be one thing I need to do when I get back to Edmonton.
After the fun night we then parted ways with Raychelle, although it was a short visit but still we enjoyed talking about life and what’s new within us.
In totality, my Edmonton trip was superb! I met not just new people but new friends. Everyone was so nice. The City itself is so lovely even if I just wandered there for a short span of time, I still appreciate its wonder.I would really love to be back in Edmonton this spring or summer.
