“Just because that person doesn’t have the same color as yours, doesn’t speak the same language as yours and look different doesn’t mean that they are not human”. This striking statement are just few of the inspiring words from Star Trek’s “Ensign Harry Kim” portrayed by Garrett Wang during this year’s Lethbridge Entertainment Expo at the Exhibition Grounds last November 22,2014.
This is the second year of the Expo and as per spectators and exhibitors that I interviewed, it is getting bigger and better every year, and as a first timer for this Expo I say it really is a neat event to go to.
The Expo is also full packed with guests like Esme Bianco who played “Ros” from the Emmy Award Winning Game of Thrones, Garrett Wang of Star Trek, David Tremont a talented guy who worked with Weta Workshop team on The Lord of the Rings, Brendan Hunter who is a voice actor who did lead and supporting roles of Dragon Ball GT and Hunter X Hunter, Cameron Farn who is currently the Creative Director and Designer for F&D Scene Changes Ltd. who does a lot of cool works of art, there were also guest Comic Artists, Comic/Toy collectors, vendors and cosplayers from all over the places as well.
Here are some of the photos I took during the event (Day 1: Novemeber 22, 2014)
Honestly, I am not a big fan of comics but after going to several comic cons and expo’s it gave me such a great feeling to see amazing and interesting people with colorful costumes and great works of art. Some people may not understand how comic, cartoons, anime, or cosplay enthusiasts/cosplayers or collectors get loco on their shows, movies, characters or collections or they might think that they are weird, but we must respect them for they may have that satisfaction of being different and into the other world that brings out the best of who they are and what they can be.
